As we created the Product Lifecycle, we developed a range of Lean governance principles and data points by collaborating with over 20 enabling functions and understanding what is needed when by different stages of their life to support and grow a product, all of course secondary to continuously meeting the customer needs. A powerful sense-making activity for product development and strategy was to combine Cynefin with the Product Lifecycle. This helped us understand when to use Lean Startup and Agile practices and created meaningful conversation to inform working practices.
What is Lean Product Development ? A question I explored with MBA students at Imperial College London. We discussed Lean, Agile, Lean Startup and shared how Minimum Viable Product is a process of learning with the customer at the centre.
This is a recap on the 2 days behind the inaugural event of Agilecymru.uk 2015. This was the first of many Agile conferences we hope to see in South Wales, bringing in a wide range of internationally recognised leading speakers.
Agile Cymru in association with Adaptagility, is a jam-packed 2 day conference with presentations from leading experts in the agile space. The conference will take place in the heart of Cardiff and the home of the Welsh Arts – the Millennium Centre on July 7 and 8, 2015.
As the first of its kind to grace the capital of Wales, Agile Cymru is all set to inspire and educate those of the Welsh community looking for a more collaborative, flexible and responsive way of working. The event format will consist of interactive and storytelling workshops, giving first-hand advice and techniques to attendees, from industry experts and practitioners.
Over a products lifecycle, different agile methodologies are more suited and evolve over time. We take a look into evolving practices and frameworks overtime in an agile context and see where Lean Startup, Scrum and Kanban appear and how this relates to Lean.

As we have progressed as a scrum team, our board has evolved in line with our continuous improvement ethos. Heavily influenced by the Theory Of Constraints, we introduced WIP limits on user stories and the board by restricting the number of lanes. We have seen team and productivity benefits when adopting some of these simple changes.
We decided to change our scrum board to look a bit more fun and interesting. So we created a web like board aka the “Super Hero Scrum Board” based on a “Bulls Eye” concept. Not only is it more fun and interested, but it creates a visual focus on Done.
